Pandemic Creates Pandemonium

 Pandemic  creates Pandemonium

Covid-19 has been declared pandemic by WHO and writing about this would go quite long, so to be specific I have particularly decided to write about something which affects India the most! yes, I am talking about the so-called "Indian variant" or B.1.617 which is leading to an Unstoppable chaos  in the country.

How this variant mutated? and How could we have tracked its mutation?

Being just a student I don't have much idea about the origin of the variant and I feel that the Specialists would be at a better position to answer the first question but I definitely have some idea to answer the second question which would be "Genomic Sequencing" through which we could have traced the arrival of this variant but unfortunately at initial stages our Medical System did not bother to  use this technique on a large scale. If it would have included in its strategy to deal with the virus then we could have surely traced the presence of this variant in numerous patients and could have got an idea to deal with this doppelganger.

 Consequences

The consequence of the spread of B.1.617 has been detrimental on the social, political ,cultural and economic life of Indians. Not only people are spending thousands of their money on the treatment but are also losing their lives in the battle with the virus.Hence, people are not only facing financial losses but they are also losing their emotional support in this horrendous pandemic.

 Vaccination: Is it effective?

Yes vaccination is indeed effective.

Albeit, you might get diagnosed with covid-19 even after vaccination but it reduces the chances of the covid getting severe in your body. It is just like you wearing helmet while driving. Questions are also raised doubting the efficacy of vaccines manufactured  in India which are covaxine and covishield. But,specialists including Soumya Swaminathan Yadav suggest Vaccination as significant in developing "Herd immunity". So these vaccines will act as a protective shield on your body making you less vulnerable to the disease.

 Our onus

So, to deal with this pandemic induced pandemonium,we need to take preventive measures such as social distancing, maintaining proper hygiene etc. Also vaccination is a must for all those for eligible for it. Lastly,I would say STAY SAFE ! STAY HEALTHY!
